The Whittle World where we all live

If you have been following my blog, by this point you probably know a few things we love.

1)  Well made wooden toys

2)  Toys that are open ended and inspire imaginative play

3)  Toys with a timeless feel to them

...just to name a few!

The Melissa & Doug Whittle World toys fit all of the criteria and then some.

We purchased several of the toys from the Whittle World line for our 3-year-old son for Christmas gifts.  They have been a big hit with both him and his sister (who was about 19-months-old during the holidays) and are still played with on a daily basis.

The toys are almost all wood (aside from wheels and tow hooks) and after nearly four months, all of the paint is still intact.  The people store nicely inside the vehicles in their "seats" and haven't been lost.  When we clean up this toy, we put the people in the vehicles to go bye bye.

Today I am featuring the Melissa & Doug Whittle World Plane and Luggage Carrier Set and the Melissa & Doug Whittle World School Bus Set.

The air plane set comes with an airplane (with wings that fold up to make it easier to store), a baggage cart and baggage rack with four different colored pieces of luggage, and five wooden people - which includes the baggage cart driver, a pilot and three passengers. The air plane can be towed by the baggage cart/rack.

The school bus set - one of the favorite toys in our home - comes with a school bus that has a movable stop sign on the side and a door that opens and closes, a "school building" front with a door that can open and close, a bus stop with slots for two wooden people to stand in, and seven wooden people - six children and one adult.  The wooden children are slightly smaller than the adults.

Neither of these toys make any loud noises on their own.  They are very well made for the price point.  They are nice in that you can keep adding on with more sets until you have a real Whittle World for your children to play with.

As with most Melissa & Doug toys, the box comes with suggestions for extending play with the toys into a deeper learning experience.

I highly recommend these for a gift!  They are beautiful toys in person and completely uncontroversial.

Happy shopping, friends!
